Perennial herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae family up to 80 cm high with a strong aromatic odour. Good honey plant. Very decorative.
Prefers light, well-drained soils. It blooms in July-August and prefers sunny places and dry, neutral soil.
In folk medicine, infusions and decoctions are used as a sedative, for colds, and as an antibacterial agent.
Seeds are sown in early autumn or May to a depth of 0.5-1.0 cm. Seed consumption is 0.4-0.5 g per 1 m2.

The leaves and inflorescences of this plant contain essential oil, tannins, pigments and ascorbic acid. The seeds contain fatty oil.
In medical practice, oregano infusion is used as a means of stimulating appetite and improving digestion, calming the central nervous system, as an expectorant for acute chronic bronchitis, and whooping cough, and as a diaphoretic for colds.
In folk medicine, it is used for rheumatism, and paralysis, as a means of improving the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, and also as a diuretic.
Externally, in the form of lotions and baths, oregano is used for pustular skin diseases and diathesis, and also as a wound healing agent.
Fruit: Fresh and dried young leaves are used for food. For medicinal purposes, oregano herb is used - the upper parts of the shoot with fully blooming flowers.
Use: spicy-aromatic and medicinal.

Potato salad with oregano.
Wash the potatoes, boil them in their skins, cool, peel and cut into slices. Combine potatoes, onions, oregano and mayonnaise. Season the salad with black pepper and place in a salad bowl.
Potatoes - 5 pieces, green onions (chopped) - 5 feathers, fresh oregano (chopped) - 2 tbsp. spoons, mayonnaise and ground black pepper - to taste.
Salad oil with oregano.
Grind the oregano and add vegetable oil. After leaving for 1 week, strain through a cloth. Grind the parsley and sweet pepper into powder, sift and pour in fruit vinegar, add sugar. Let stand for 4 hours, mix with strained oil, pour into a bottle and shake well.
Vegetable oil - 500 g, oregano (dried) - 20 g, parsley (dried) - 5 g, sweet pepper (dried) - 1 tbsp. spoon, sugar - 1 tbsp. l., fruit vinegar - 100 g.
Simple tea with oregano.
Rinse the teapot with boiling water, add 2-3 stems of oregano, pour boiling water over it, close the lid and let it brew for 5-7 minutes.
Tea with oregano and milk.
Place the mixture of water and milk on the stove and add dry oregano. As soon as the tea boils, remove it from the stove and let it brew for 5 minutes. Then cool and pour into glasses.

Drink made from oregano with honey.
Pour boiling water over oregano, leave for 2-3 hours, strain, add honey, stir and cool.
Oregano (dried) - 50 g, honey - 150 g, water - 3 l.
Balm "Tea".
Place all components in a container and fill with vodka. Leave for 2 weeks. Then filter, add cognac and honey and leave for another 2 weeks.
